Storm Shadow (UK) / SCALP-EG (France) is a stealthy air-launched cruise missile developed by MBDA, best known for its BROACH tandem warhead โ€” a two-stage system with a precursor shaped charge that penetrates hardened bunkers before the main 450 kg charge detonates inside. This makes Storm Shadow exceptionally effective against underground command centers, aircraft shelters, and reinforced structures. Ukraine's use of Storm Shadow against Russian targets in Crimea and occupied territories โ€” including the devastating strike on the Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Sevastopol โ€” demonstrated the missile's ability to penetrate Russian air defenses. The missile navigates using terrain-matching radar and terminates with an infrared imaging seeker for pinpoint accuracy, enabling strikes in GPS-denied environments.
