AGM-158 JASSM-ER
The AGM-158B JASSM-ER (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile — Extended Range) is the US military's premier conventional air-launched cruise missile, combining 926+ km range with stealth shaping and an infrared terminal seeker capable of autonomous target recognition. This means the JASSM-ER can strike targets with precision even when GPS is jammed — a critical advantage against peer adversaries. Its low-observable design gives it a radar cross-section smaller than a bird, enabling penetration of advanced integrated air defense systems. First used in combat during the 2018 Syria strikes launched from B-1B bombers, the JASSM-ER is integrated on nearly every US tactical and strategic aircraft. Lockheed Martin is developing the JASSM-XR variant with a range exceeding 1,600 km, ensuring the weapon remains relevant against A2/AD threats through 2040.
